Strength in the Struggle

A few days ago I stood triumphantly upon my mountain top, thanking God for the strength and guidance to get me there. I was elated, praising Him in this moment of glory, humbled by His gracious love, and powerful victory. I felt unstoppable. I had made it to the top.

I never stopped to notice the stormy weather overhead that would blow me from high place, to the darkness of defeat.

Today I struggle for air as I am carried away in the current of this churning river. It's ready to swallow me whole. I fight for my life--gasping for breath, as I suffocate beneath its slippery grip.
I will not drown.
So I fight, knowing my Lord will save me once more. He has always rescued me. He has provided for me and is my security.
I have faith that I again will climb upwards to the top of the mountain. That peak gives me hope, even in this freezing water. This heavy weight on my chest, my lungs burn for oxygen... I can’t catch my breath.

My thoughts retreat to triumphs of past. The reminders make the swim easier. In this fight I know I gain strength for my next mountain, for the next climb towards victory's high peak. Pushed to my limit, I endure still.

The struggles of my journey will reflect glory in triumph. My endurance of faith reaps victory over defeat. Whether you are in the lull of the valley or drowning in the river, you must press forward in faith.

Know that God has a mountain for you.
When you've gained enough strength in the struggle, you will see its enormous promise before you. Trust and faith are your enduring strength. Turnover and float, rely on the peace of the Lord to guide you back to the calm of land.
"12Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life." -James 1:12 (MSG)
